BRONCOS WR BRANDON LLOYD NAMED TO 2011 PRO BOWL

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Lloyd was named to the 2011 Pro Bowl, the National Football League announced on Tuesday.

Lloyd, in his eighth NFL season and second with the Broncos, was named to the Pro Bowl for the first time after setting career highs in every statistical category in 2010. In 15 games (10 starts), he has totaled 72 receptions for a league-high 1,375 receiving yards (19.1 avg.) with 10 touchdowns. His 1,375 receiving yards rank second in franchise history in a single season.

Lloyd has provided Denver with the biggest deep-play threat in the league as he leads the NFL with 18 receptions of 25+ yards and nine catches of 40+ yards. His 19.1-yard receiving average also stands as the third-highest mark since the 1970 NFL merger among players who have matched his reception total (72).

He is tied for the NFL lead with six 100-yard receiving games while his 10 receiving touchdowns are tied for fifth in the league.

Lloyd is the seventh wide receiver in team history to be named to the Pro Bowl, joining Brandon Marshall (2008-09), Rod Smith (2000-01, ’05), Ed McCaffrey (1998), Anthony Miller (1995), Steve Watson (1981) and Haven Moses (1973).

The league’s annual All-Star Game will be played on Sunday, Jan. 30, at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii at 7 p.m. EST. The game will be televised nationally on FOX.

QUOTE FROM BRONCOS INTERIM HEAD COACH ERIC STUDESVILLE ON BRANDON LLOYD:

“I’d like to extend my congratulations to Brandon Lloyd on his selection to the 2011 Pro Bowl. His success on the field this year has made him a worthy representative of the Broncos for this prestigious honor. It is great to see coaches, fans and his peers from around the NFL recognize his talent and accomplishments.

“Brandon’s individual performance has been one of the true bright spots in our season, and his big-play capability and dynamic catches have excited our fans and players all year long. Working with Wide Receivers Coach Adam Gase, he is developing into one of the NFL’s elite players at his position. The entire Denver Broncos organization is thrilled to see him get the recognition that he has earned this year.”
