BRONCOS CLAIM CB CHEVIS JACKSON OFF WAIVERS; WAIVE LB ALEXANDER

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Monday were assigned cornerback Chevis Jackson off waivers, it was announced. He was waived by the New England Patriots on Dec. 18. Also on Monday, the club waived rookie linebacker Kevin Alexander.

Jackson
(5-foot-11, 193 pounds) is a third-year player who has appeared in 33 career regular-season games (3 starts) with Jacksonville (2010) and Atlanta (2008-09), totaling 64 tackles (55 solo), one sack (9 yds.) and one interception (95 yds.). He also started one postseason contest and recorded two solo tackles and an interception. He entered the NFL as a third-round draft choice (68th overall) by Atlanta in the 2008 NFL Draft from Louisiana State University.

He graduated from LSU ranked second in school history in passes defensed (44), while adding 142 tackles (103 solo) and eight interceptions.

A two-way player at St. Paul’s Episcopal High School in Mobile, Ala., he was born on Dec. 11, 1985.
