ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Thursday announced several transactions, including the signing of wide receivers Patrick Carter and Britt Davis.

Also on Thursday the club waived wide receiver Patrick Honeycutt and placed safety Josh Barrett and wide receiver Kenny McKinley on injured reserve.

(6-2, 205 pounds) is a first-year player who spent a portion of the 2009 season on Tampa Bay’s practice squad. He originally entered the NFL as a college free agent with Baltimore in 2008.

He played in 20 career games at the University of Louisville after spending two seasons at Georgia Tech University. For his collegiate career, he posted 31 receptions for 464 yards and five touchdowns.

A PrepStar All-Region quarterback at Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg, Fla., Carter was born on February 6, 1985.

(6-2, 205 pounds) is a first-year player who spent the end of the 2009 season on the New York Jets’ practice squad after competing in the club’s training camp during the preseason. He was originally signed by the Jets as a college free agent from Northern Illinois University.

He finished his career ranked fifth in NIU history with 146 receptions and totaled 1,676 receiving yards to go along with nine total touchdowns (8 receiving).

A two-time All-State selection at Riverside-Brookfield High School in Broadview, Ill., Davis was born on April 23, 1986.
