ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Saturday acquired linebacker Joe Mays from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for running back J.J. Arrington.

(5-foot-11, 246 pounds) is a third-year player who has played in 13 career games (1 start) for Philadelphia, including 11 games (1 start) for the Eagles in 2009 when he totaled seven tackles (4 solo) and a forced fumble on defense. He also finished third on the team with 19 special-teams tackles and a forced fumble. In two career playoff games, he has posted two special-teams tackles.  

He wasdrafted by Philadelphia in the sixth round (200th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft from North Dakota State where he received All-America recognition as a senior in 2007 and was a three-time first-team All-Great West selection.

A first-team all-city selection as a senior at Hyde Park Career Academy in Chicago, Mays was born on July 6, 1985.
