BRONCOS CLAIM RB JUSTIN FORSETT OF WAIVERS; PLACE RB KAPRI BIBBS ON INJURED RESERVE

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Monday claimed running back Justin Forsett off waivers from Detroit and placed running back Kapri Bibbs on injured reserve, it was announced.

Forsett (5-8, 195 pounds) is a ninth-year player who has appeared in 118 regular-season games (34 starts) with Indianapolis (2008), Seattle (2008-11), Houston (2012), Jacksonville (2013), Baltimore (2014-16) and Detroit (2016). He started three games for the Ravens in 2016 before playing in two games for the Lions. He was released by Detroit on Dec. 3.

Selected by Seattle in the seventh round (233rd overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft from the University of California, his career regular-season totals include 777 rushes for 3,735 yards (4.8 avg.) with 18 touchdowns and 203 receptions for 1,317 yards (6.5 avg.) with one score. In four career postseason games (3 starts), he has totaled 48 rushes for 198 yards (4.1 avg.) and eight catches for 61 yards (7.6 avg.) with one touchdown.

His best NFL season came with Baltimore in 2014 when Broncos Head Coach Gary Kubiak was the Ravens’ offensive coordinator. Starting 14-of-16 games that season, he rushed for a career-best 1,266 yards—the fifth most in the NFL—on 235 carries (5.4 avg.) with eight touchdowns. He also caught 44 passes for 263 yards (6.0 avg.) and earned his first career Pro Bowl selection.

Forsett played 49 games (18 starts) at Cal, where he finished his collegiate career ranked third in school history with 3,220 rushing yards on 567 carries (5.7 avg.) with 26 touchdowns. He earned first-team All-Pac-10 honors as a senior after totaling 1,546 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on 305 carries (5.1 avg.).
A graduate of Grace Preparatory Academy in Arlington, Texas, Forsett was born on Oct. 14, 1985, in Lakeland, Fla.
