BRONCOS SIGN WR MARLON BROWN; WAIVE CB TAUREAN NIXON
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Monday signed wide receiver Marlon Brown and waived cornerback Taurean Nixon, it was announced.
Brown (6-5, 214 pounds) is a fourth-year player who appeared in 38 regular-season games (15 starts) and two postseason contests (1 start) during his first three seasons with Baltimore. He briefly competed with the Broncos during training camp in 2016 before being designated as waived/injured on Aug. 4.
Signed by the Ravens as a college free agent in 2013 from the University of Georgia, Brown has totaled 87 receptions for 891 yards (10.2 avg.) with seven touchdowns in the regular season. He posted career-highs of 49 catches for 524 yards (10.7 avg.) with seven touchdowns as a rookie in 2013 while starting 12-of-14 games for Baltimore. In 2015, he played 10 games (2 starts) and totaled 14 receptions for 112 yards (8.0 avg.).
During his career at Georgia, Brown played 40 games (11 starts) and recorded 55 receptions for 851 yards (15.5 avg.) with eight touchdowns. A Parade All-American at Harding Academy in Memphis, Tenn., Brown was born on April 22, 1991.
