ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Monday claimed guard Billy Turner off waivers from Baltimore and released offensive lineman Darrion Weems, it was announced.
Turner (6-5, 310 pounds) is a third-year player who started 14-of-20 games for Miami during his first three seasons. He played five games (2 starts) for Miami in 2016 before being waived on Oct. 11. He also spent Week 6 with Baltimore before being waived by the club on Oct. 15.
A 12-game starter (13 GP) for the Dolphins in 2015, Turner was selected by the Dolphins in the third round (67th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft from North Dakota State University.
Turner was named the 2013 FCS Athletic Director Association Offensive lineman of the Year following his senior season at North Dakota State. During his collegiate career, Turner started 56-of-57 games for the Bison.
He attended Mounds View High School in Arden Hills, Minn., and was born on Oct. 17, 1991.
