The award represents the first conference recognition of Siemian’s career. He is the eighth Broncos quarterback to be named AFC Offensive Player of the Week since the award was initiated by the NFL in 1984, joining John Elway (15x), Peyton Manning (6x), Jake Plummer (3x), Brian Griese (2x), Gary Kubiak (1x), Jay Cutler (1x) and Kyle Orton (1x) with that distinction.
Siemian completed 23-of-35 passes (65.7%) for 312 yards with four touchdowns (132.1 rtg.) against Cincinnati to become the first player in NFL history to throw for 300 yards and four touchdowns without an interception in his first career road start. Sunday’s game marked just the third time any Broncos quarterback has reached those totals in a road game (the two previous occurrences were by Manning during his 2013 MVP season).
Selected by the Broncos in the seventh round (250th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft, Siemian is just the fifth quarterback taken in the seventh round under the current draft format (since 1994) to have a four-touchdown game.
Siemian is the second Broncos player to receive conference player of the week recognition in 2016, joining linebacker Von Miller, who was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week (Wk. 2).
