ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Friday signed rookie offensive lineman Mathu Gibson and designated offensive lineman Sam Brenner as waived/injured, it was announced.

Gibson (6-6, 295 pounds), who was invited to compete in the N.Y. Jets’ rookie mini camp in May, was a two-year captain and four-year starter at Wingate University.

He was named a first-team USA College Football Division II All-American following his senior season in 2015 in which he posted 24 knockdown blocks and allowed only two sacks.

A graduate of West Forsyth High School in Cumming, Ga., Gibson was named all-conference, all-city, all-county and all-region following his senior prep campaign.
