BRONCOS SIGN DE BILLY WINN; PLACE NT PHIL TAYLOR ON INJURED RESERVE
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Sunday signed defensive end Billy Winn and placed nose tackle Phil Taylor on injured reserve, it was announced.
Winn (6-4, 300 pounds) is a fifth-year player who appeared in 52 regular-season games (21 starts) during his first four seasons with Cleveland (2012-14) and Indianapolis (2015). He was selected by the Browns in the sixth round (205th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft from Boise State University.
During his career, Winn has totaled 92 tackles (60 solo), three sacks (19 yds.), two interceptions, five passes defensed, two forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
After being acquired by the Colts via trade in 2015, Winn played 12 games (3 starts) for Indianapolis and contributed 14 tackles and two fumble recoveries. He was placed on injured reserve by the club on Dec. 21.
Winn started 41-of-53 career games played in four seasons (2008-11) at Boise State, totaling 131 tackles, 15.5 sacks, one forced fumble and four fumble recoveries. A first-team all-state selection at Las Vegas (Nev.) High School, Winn was born on April 15, 1989.
