ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Tuesday signed rookie linebacker Darnell Sankey and waived rookie long snapper Nathan Theus, it was announced.

Sankey played 43 career games at Sacramento State University, totaling 330 tackles (124 solo), 12.5 sacks (94 yds.), 27.5 tackles for a loss, one interception (59 yds.), nine passes defensed, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He was named a first-team All-Big Sky Conference selection as a senior in 2015 after finishing second in the Football Championship Subdivision with 153 total tackles.

A graduate of Branham High School in San Jose, Calif., Sankey led the Central Coast Section with 155 tackles as a senior.
