ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Tuesday waived quarterback Christian Ponder from their active roster, it was announced.

Also on Tuesday, the team signed offensive lineman Cameron Jefferson to its practice squad and released tackle Antonio Johnson from the unit.

Jefferson (6-5, 317 pounds) is a rookie from the University of Arkansas who competed with Chicago in the preseason after entering the NFL with the Bears as a college free agent.

He appeared in nine games for the Razorbacks as a senior in 2014 after transferring from UNLV, where he started his final 33 games at left guard.

Jefferson was born on May 2, 1992, in Cleveland.
