ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Friday signed rookie tight end Dan Light and waived wide receiver Solomon Patton, it was announced.

Light (6-5, 265 pounds) is a rookie from Fordham University who graduated as the top pass-catching tight end in school history. He started 47-of-48 games played for the Rams from 2011-14, totaling 177 receptions for 1,594 yards (9.0 avg.) with nine touchdowns.

He earned first-team All-America and All-Patriot League honors following his senior season in 2014 after recording 43 receptions for 385 yards (9.0 avg.) with six touchdowns.

Named the 2010 Central Massachusetts Player of the Year as a senior at St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury, Mass., Light was born on May 5, 1993.

Light will wear jersey No. 84.
