ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Friday were awarded punter Spencer Lanning off waivers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it was announced.

Lanning (5-11, 200 pounds) is a third-year player who appeared in 32 games for the Browns during the last two seasons, punting 177 times for 7,798 yards (44.1 avg.). He placed 53 punts inside the 20-yard line and posted a net average of 38.6 yards.

Lanning also kicked off 12 times for the Browns from 2013-14.

He entered the NFL with Chicago as a college free agent from the University of South Carolina in 2011 and went on to spend time with Jacksonville (2012), Cleveland (2012, ’14-15), the N.Y. Jets (2012) and Tampa Bay (2015).

A four-year letterman for the Gamecocks, Lanning finished his collegiate career with 171 punts for a 42.6-yard average with 46 kicks inside the 20.He also served as the school’s kicker during his last two seasons, connecting on 34-of-44 field goals (77.3%) and 80-of-84 (95.2%) PATs.

Lanning graduated from York (S.C.) Comprehensive High School and was born on May 21, 1988.
