Denver currently owns 10 of this year’s 256 draft selections, including five original picks, four compensatory choices and one trade acquisition.
The Broncos’ four compensatory selections—awarded by the NFL Management Council and based on a formula considering the previous year’s unrestricted free-agent signings and losses—are the maximum number that can be allocated to a team in a single draft and represent the most in Broncos history.
Denver has made at least 10 selections only six times since the NFL Draft went to a seven-round format beginning in 1994. The club drafted 12 players each in 1996 and ‘99 in addition to selecting 10 players apiece in 2000, ‘03, ‘04 and ‘09.
The 80th NFL?Draft will start Thursday, April 30, at 6 p.m. MDT. The three-day event will take place at the Auditorium Theatre at Roosevelt University in Chicago.
