BRONCOS AGREE TO TERMS WITH JOE DECAMILLIS AS SPECIAL TEAMS COORDINATOR

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos agreed to terms with Joe DeCamillis to be their special teams coordinator, it was announced on Tuesday.

DeCamillis, who is entering his 27th NFL season, has coached special teams for 22 years, most recently with the Chicago Bears from 2013-14.

He began his NFL career with Denver in 1988, spending two years in football administration before becoming a defensive quality control coach for the Broncos from 1990-91.

During his two seasons in Chicago, DeCamillis’ unit allowed a league-low 18.3 yards per kick return while generating two touchdown returns (1 PR, 1 KR) and three takeaways.

Prior to his arrival in Chicago, DeCamillis spent four seasons (2009-12) as special teams coordinator for Dallas, where he oversaw punter Matt McBriar’s Pro Bowl campaign in 2010 (NFL leader in gross/net average – 47.9/41/7). He was named the Cowboys’ Ed Block Courage Award winner in 2009 as voted by his players.

DeCamillis, who also coached special teams with Jacksonville (2007-08), Atlanta (1997-2006) and the N.Y. Giants (1993-96), was born on June 29, 1965, in Arvada, Colo.
