BRONCOS SIGN K BRANDON McMANUS TO ACTIVE ROSTER; WAIVE WR ISAIAH BURSE
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Saturday signed kicker Brandon McManus to their active roster and waived wide receiver Isaiah Burse, it was announced.
McManus played 11 games for the Broncos this season, ranking second in the NFL with 48 touchbacks on kickoffs (48-of-64 / 75.0%) through Week 12 in addition to converting 9-of-13 (69.2%) field goal attempts and 41-of-41 (100%) extra point tries.
The first-year player was acquired by the Broncos on Aug. 26, in a trade from the New York Giants. He competed with the Giants during the preseason, connecting on both field goal attempts (46, 47) and recording touchbacks on 10-of-11 kickoffs.
McManus spent the 2013 preseason with Indianapolis after being signed by the club as a college free agent from Temple University on April 30. He converted his only field goal attempt (50 yds.) with the Colts—a 50-yarder against the Giants.
Temple’s career leader in points scored (338), field goals made (60) and attempted (83) and punting average (45.4), McManus was the recipient of the 2012 College Football Performance Awards Specialist Trophy as the nation’s best overall kicker.
He lettered four times as a kicker and punter at North Penn High School in Lansdale, Pa., and was born on July 25, 1991.
McManus will wear jersey No. 8.
