ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Tuesday signed long snapper Kevin McDermott to their practice squad, it was announced.

He fills a spot on the practice squad vacated by guard Vinson Painter, who was signed to the Cleveland Browns’ active roster on Tuesday.

McDermott (6-4, 234 pounds) is a second-year player who took every special-teams snap for San Francisco as a rookie in 2013 after being signed by the club as a college free agent from UCLA.

A long snapper for the Bruins following his prep career at Ensworth High School in Nashville, Ten., McDermott was born on Jan. 12, 1990.
