FOUR BRONCOS NAMED TO 2013 ASSOCIATED PRESS ALL-PRO TEAM

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.— Four Denver Broncos were named to the 2013 Associated Press All-Pro Team, it was announced on Friday.

Quarterback Peyton Manning and guard Louis Vasquez were selected as first-team recipients while kicker Matt Prater and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas received second-team recognition.

Manning, a unanimous first-team choice at quarterback, now has seven first-team AP All-Pro selections in his career (2003-05, ’08-09, ’12-13) to tie Hall of Famer Otto Graham (1947-49, ’51, ’53-55) for the most by a quarterback in pro football history. He finished the regular season with NFL records in passing yards (5,477) and passing touchdowns (55) while guiding the Broncos to a 13-3 record and the AFC’s No. 1 seed.

Vasquez, a first-team mention by the AP, is an All-Pro selection for the first time in his career. Signed by Denver as an unrestricted free agent last March, he is just the fifth offensive lineman in team history to receive first-team All-Pro honors. He allowed zero sacks according to STATS Inc. and was the only Bronco to play every possible offensive or defensive snap during the regular season.

Prater, a second-team AP All-Pro selection, led the league in field goal percentage (96.2 / 25-of-26) and finished second in the NFL with a franchise-record 150 points scored. He is the first Broncos kicker to make the AP All-Pro Team since Jason Elam was named a first-team selection in 2001.

Thomas led the Broncos in receptions (94), receiving yards (1,430) and receiving touchdowns (14) in 2013 to help the club set the NFL’s single-season scoring record (606 pts.). His 14 receiving scores tied a team record and he became the first Bronco to produce back-to-back 1,400-yard receiving seasons.
