BRONCOS QB PEYTON MANNING NAMED AFC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, the NFL informed the Broncos on Wednesday.

Manning completed 32-of-37 passes (86.5%) for 374 yards with three touchdowns (135.8 rtg.) in Denver’s 37-21 win against the Oakland Raiders on Monday Night Football. His performance marked just the sixth time in NFL history a player threw for 350 yards and three touchdowns while completing at least 85 percent of his passes.

His three touchdowns against Oakland gave him 12 for the season (against zero interceptions) to represent the most by a player through three games in league annals.

Manning’s accomplishment marks the 25th such award of his career, adding to his NFL record. It’s the fourth time he has earned the honor with Denver (Weeks 6, 17 in 2012 and Week 1 in 2013) and the 50th time a Broncos player has taken home the award.
