BRONCOS WIDE RECEIVER TRINDON HOLLIDAY NAMED AFC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Denver Broncos wide receiver Trindon Holliday was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week, the NFL informed the Broncos on Wednesday.

Holliday returned four punts for 121 yards (30.3 avg.), including an 81-yard touchdown, in Denver’s 41-23 win over the New York Giants on Sunday. He also returned two kickoffs for 34 yards (17.0 avg.).

The touchdown marked his fifth special-teams return score in just his 19th career game played (including postseason). The fourth-year player has returned a kickoff or a punt for a touchdown in every 3.8 games to rank first in NFL history (he has a return score for every 2.6 games played as a Bronco). His five total return scores also rank second in team history, trailing only Rick Upchurch (8) in that category.

The AFC Special Teams Player of the Week recognition marks the second such honor of Holliday’s career. He was also the last Broncos player to take home the award, doing so in Week 9 of 2012 after setting a franchise record with a 105-yard kickoff return for a touchdown at Cincinnati.

His accomplishment marks the 24th time a Broncos player has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week and the second time this year a Bronco has earned conference Player of the Week recognition (quarterback Peyton Manning was namedAFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Baltimore in the season opener).
