ENGLEWOOD, Colo.— Denver Broncos defensive tackle Mitch Unrein signed his exclusive-rights free agent tender, it was announced on Thursday.

Unrein (6-4, 291 pounds) is a third-year player who saw action in 30 regular-season games (2 starts) and three postseason contests with the Broncos during the last two seasons after spending the 2010 campaign on the club’s practice squad. He owns 27 career tackles (17 solo) and one fumble recovery on defense in addition to a 1-yard touchdown catch on offense (vs. T.B., 12/2/12) that made him the first defensive lineman in Broncos history to record a receiving score.

Originally signed by Houston as a college free agent in 2010, he competed with the Texans during the preseason of his rookie year before catching on with Denver’s practice squad.

Unrein was an honorable mention All-Mountain West Conference selection following each of his final three seasons at the University of Wyoming, where he totaled 162 career tackles and 10.5 sacks.

A graduate of Eaton (Colo.) High School, Unrein was born on March 25, 1987.
