BRONCOS ACQUIRE WIDE RECEIVER TRINDON HOLLIDAY OFF WAIVERS; WAIVE SAFETY DUKE IHENACHO

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. —The Denver Broncos on Thursday were assigned wide receiver Trindon Holliday off waivers from Houston, it was announced.

To make room for Holliday on the active roster, Denver waived rookie safety Duke Ihenacho.

Holliday (5-foot-6, 169 pounds) is a third-year player who has seen action in six career games with Houston since he was drafted by the Texans in the sixth round (197th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft from Louisiana State University.

In his most extensive NFL action, he played five games for Houston in 2012 and totaled 16 punt returns for 147 yards (9.2 avg.) and 10 kickoff returns for 194 yards (19.4 avg.).

Holliday finished his career at LSU with 3,297 all-purpose yards (772 rush., 72 rec., 674 PR, 1,806 KR) to rank 10th in school history, while his 2,453 combined return yards ranked second. He also was as an eight-time All-American on the Tigers’ track and field team and was the national champion in the 100-meter dash (10.00) at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor meet.

A football and track star at Northeast High School in Zachary, La., Holliday was born on April 27, 1986.
