ENGLEWOOD, Colo. —Denver Broncos Head Coach John Fox on Wednesday announced the team captains for the 2012 season.
The following players were voted as team captains by their teammates:
Offense
QB Peyton Manning (11th season as captain) – Entering his 15th NFL season, the NFL’s only four-time MVP was named a team captain during each of his last 10 seasons with Indianapolis.
G Chris Kuper (3rd season as captain) – The longest-tenured offensive player on the club (seventh season), he enters his third consecutive campaign as a team captain.
RB Willis McGahee (1st season as captain) – The 10th-year running back, who led the Broncos with 1,199 rushing yards in 2011, will serve as an interim offensive captain during G Chris Kuper’s absence due to injury.
Defense
CB Champ Bailey (6th season as captain) – The longest-tenured player on the Broncos (ninth season with the team) and an 11-time Pro Bowl selection, Bailey is in his sixth consecutive season as a captain for the club.
DE Elvis Dumervil (1st season as captain) – The third-longest-tenured defensive player with the club (seventh season), this is his first season as a team captain.
Special Teams
LB Wesley Woodyard (4th season as captain) – In his fourth consecutive season as a team captain, he also served as a game captain during his rookie season in 2008, making him one of two players in franchise history (RB Floyd Little) to serve as a captain in his first five seasons with the club.
