BRONCOS SIGN FREE-AGENT LINEBACKER KEITH BROOKING

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Monday signed free-agent linebacker Keith Brooking, it was announced.

Brooking (6-foot-2, 240 pounds) is a 15th-year player and five-time Pro Bowl selection who has seen action in 209 career regular-season games (179 starts) with Atlanta (1998-2008) and Dallas (2009-11), totaling 1,387 tackles (1,070 solo), 21 sacks (148.5 yds.), 13 interceptions (185 yds.), 64 passes defensed, eight forced fumbles and 10 fumble recoveries, according to press box totals. He also has played 10 postseason games (7 starts) and recorded 56 tackles (47 solo), two sacks (31 yds.), four passes defensed, and one forced fumble.

Originally selected by the Falcons in the first round (12th overall) of the 1998 NFL Draft, he finished his collegiate career at Georgia Tech as the school’s all-time leader in tackles (467).

Brooking attended East Coweta High School in Sharpsburg, Ga., and was born on Oct. 30, 1975, in Senoia, Ga.
