Prater converted on 6-of-7 field goals in five games during the final month of the season (Dec./Jan.), including both of his attempts from 50+ yards. He also made all four of his attempts in the fourth quarter or overtime to bring his career conversion rate to 28-of-29 in those circumstances.

He was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance against the Bears in which he booted a 59-yard field goal with 0:03 remaining to send the game to overtime, where he connected on a 51-yarder for the 13-10 Broncos win.
This is the second time in his career Prater has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month (September 2009), and his accomplishment marks the first Player of the Month honor for a Bronco since wide receiver Eddie Royal was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month in October of 2009.
For the season, Prater made 19-of-25 (.760) field goals in addition to leading the NFL in touchback percentage (70.1 / 47-of-67). The fifth-year player also kicked four game-winning field goals on the last play of the game to tie for the second most in a single season in NFL history.
